Storage for the Preservation of Fresh Basil

Fresh BasilBasil is an herb that comes from the family Lamiaceae. Basil is a tender plant that is popular in many cuisines. There are many varieties of basil, including sweet basil and Genovese basil. All are native to tropical regions.

Basil can be stored in different forms. When not in use, fresh basil leaves should be wrapped in damp paper towels and placed in a plastic bag. Fresh leaves can stay fresh for up to four days this way.

Basil plants should be stored in a sunny location for the best results.
