General Information
Each contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, whose rules apply to the four main KCBS entries of Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork and Beef Brisket.
Only charcoal, wood or wood pellets may be used as cooking fuels.
Entry Fees
Per Entry Fee – $125.00 (Rib-only contest, TOY Ribs points) — 10 Team Min KCBS Master of Ribs Contest, October 22
Per Entry Fee – $335.00 (includes all 4 main categories, Friday night campground lodging) — 25 Team Min KCBS Masters BBQ Contest, October 23
Per Entry Fee – $215.00 (includes 2 categories: Chicken + Ribs, Friday night campground lodging) — 10 Team Min KCBS Backyard Contest, October 23
Per Entry Fee – $125.00 (Rib-only contest, TOY Ribs points) — 10 Team Min KCBS Master of Ribs Contest, October 23
Per Entry Fee – $335.00 (includes all 4 main categories, Saturday night campground lodging) — 25 Team Min KCBS Masters BBQ Contest, October 24
Trophies will be awarded to Grand, Reserve Grand, and 1st through 3rd for the (4) main KCBS categories; certificates awarded to 4th and 5th.
KCBS prize purse payouts are based on the number of teams that participate, and pay deeper with more teams.
Payouts are as follows:
– 25 teams = $4,000.00 to 8th Place
– 30 teams = $5,000.00 to 8th Place
– 35 teams = $6,000.00 to 10th Place
– 40 teams = $7,000.00 to 10th Place
– 45 teams = $8,000.00 to 12th Place
– 50 teams = $9,000.00 to 12th Place
– 55 teams = $10,000.00 to 15th Place
– 60 plus teams = $11,000 to 15th Place
Ancillary Category:
– 1st Place – $100.00/Cash Plus Trophy
– 2nd Place – $75.00/Cash
– 3rd Place – $50.00/Cash
