General Information
Publix Super Markets and Publix Charities have been major sponsors of the Lakeland Pigfest since 1997. The Publix Backyard Competition teams compete in the same four categories of Ribs, Chicken, Pork and Brisket. The difference is that the backyard group is composed of local teams, competing for bragging rights, ribbons and trophies. The backyard contest follows rules similar to the KCBS Rules and Regulations.
Entry Fees
Publix Backyard Per Entry Fee – $225.00 (20′ x 20′ Cook Space, 20amp Power)
Dessert Competition Per Entry Fee – $25.00 (Teams may submit multiple paid entries.)
Sauce Competition Per Entry Fee – $25.00 (Teams may submit multiple paid entries.)
Anything Butt Competition Per Entry Fee – $25.00 (Teams may submit multiple paid entries.)
PUBLIX BACKYARD CONTEST PURSE PRIZE:
Grand Champion – $1,500.00
Reserve Grand Champion – $750.00
Trophies will be awarded for 1st through 5th Place in all four (4) meat categories.
Ribbons will be awarded for 6th through 10th Place in all four (4) meat categories.
Governor’s Award – Trophy to highest overall scoring team from Florida.
FUN FOOD CONTESTS:
Dessert-Sauce-Anything Butt
1st Place – 30% of Entries
2nd – Place – 20% of Entries
3rd – Place – 10% of Entries
