The California Commercial Wine Competition has been an integral part of California’s wine industry for decades. Goals include guiding the state’s consumers, offering benchmarks for California’s wineries and vineyards, and encouraging and stimulating the continuing growth and improvement in the state’s wine industry at every level.

One of the competition’s most important points is its emphasis on place. Wines are categorized by where the grapes are grown, not the site of the winery. The competition places a special emphasis on single vineyard wines.
