Our Beginning – Dave and Carol VanSchepen purchase vineyard property and move their family to Oregon in September 1981.
The Early Years – VanSchepen Vineyard grapes are harvested and sold to local wineries – Oregon’s founding wineries are getting international attention for world class wines.
Dana and Nick Get Married – After meeting in high school, Dana and Nick Blizzard marry at the vineyard, setting up a beautiful love relationship with the land.
First Wine – After making her first few batches of kit wine, Dana decides to utilize her parents vineyard and gets a small yeild from her first vintage. Dana’s passion for farming and science are discovered.
Dana Goes Back to School – Realizing that she needed to learn the science behind wine, Dana attends the Northwest Center for Wine Studies to get a degree in winemaking.
Vineyard Upgrade – VanSchepen Vineyard is restructured, retrellised and 1400 new vines are planted to get the vineard ready for premium wine production. Pinot Noir is now the primary crop.
Getting Set-Up – In order to get a winery license, Blizzard Wines had to make some improvements to the property – like a new foundation for this firetruck turn-around.
Estate Pinot Noir & Chardonnay – As part of being stewards of the land, VanSchepen vineyards is farmed organically and it shows with the quality of our fruit.
Premium Pinot Gris – Our Pinot Gris is sourced from the beautiful high elevation vineyard Domaine Margelle.
Beautiful Big Reds – Blizzard Wine starts sourcing fruit from Columbia Valley AVA, Sagemoor Farms, located on the Columbia River in Eastern Washington.
Grand Opening Success – Blizzard Wines first vintage, 2011, is released for sale, immediately receiving great reviews.
