Judging – August 28-29, 2026
The Alberta Beer Awards (ABA) were established by the Alberta Small Brewers Association(ASBA) to highlight and extend our industry-wide commitment to producing quality products. Every beer entered will receive written feedback on their product.
You may enter up to ten (10) beer products, and there is no limit on non-alc, three (3) entries per category for RTD, soda and lemonade products.
The judging process will be double-blind, employing BJCP certified judges as well as professional
brewers and other experienced industry professionals.
Drop off for entries will be August 27, 2026 at Marda Loop Community Association (3130 16 St SW, Calgary, AB T2T 4G7)
Please include:
– 4 – 473ml cans
– 6 – 355ml cans
– 3 – Crowlers
– Minimum of 2 growlers
Be sure to put the Brewery Name and Product Name as you want it to appear on any potential trophy or marketing materials. The submitted names will be used on trophies and in marketing materials for winners.
Best of Show: Gold/silver/bronze will be awarded to the best among gold medal winning beer in the
competition.
Brewery of the Year: The brewery with the highest number of points will be awarded Brewery of the
Year. Points to be awarded for medaling in categories only (not BOS) on the following basis: 4-gold,
2-silver, 1-bronze. Only ONE medal will be awarded. Medals awarded in categories 29 and 30 do not
count toward Brewery of the Year.
New Brewery of the Year: Awarded to the brewery which opened after January 1, 2025, has not
previously submitted an entry to the Alberta Beer Awards, and received the most Brewery of the Year
points. Only ONE medal will be awarded.
