The 2023 Virginia Egg Council sponsored recipe contest is searching for some Five Star DESSERT BAR recipes! And we know the bakers in your area have some terrific recipes that’ll make for a unique and delicious competition.
Why Dessert Bars?
They are all the rage right now – from bodacious brownies, to fabulous fruit and nut bars, to tangy lemon squares, folks just love making and serving these pop-in-you-mouth treats. They can be cut into any shape, and are perfect when feeding a crowd. the possibilities are endless!!
Searching for delicious dessert bar recipes, that contain a minimum of four whole eggs. They can be layered, include fruit, nuts or even topped with meringue. Once baked in a 9×13” pan, they can be cut into squares, rectangles, or whatever shape you think appropriate. They can be frosted, served plain, or dusted with powdered sugar. The dessert bars should be portioned out and presented for judging on a plate or platter.
ELIGIBILITY:
Entrants must be Virginia residents, but not necessarily a resident in the community where the local contest is being held.

Flavor – Texture- Creativity – Overall Appearance – Followed Contest Requirements -Recipe Directions Easy To Understand And Follow
Top three recipe winners will receive a gift from Virginia Egg Council AND will be eligible to compete at the finals, to be held at the State Fair of Virginia, on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023.

First Prize – $400.00/1 Dozen Eggland’s Best Eggs* Each Week for a Year!
Second Prize – $300.00/1 Dozen Eggland’s Best Eggs* A Week for Six Months!
Third Prize – $200.00/1 Dozen Eggland’s Best Eggs* A Week for Six Months!
Many non–finalist prizes will also be awarded.
