Competition – November 3-4, 2023
This is a State Championship and a New Contest.
Limited to 24 Teams.
November is a prime tourism month in Arizona and usually offers superb weather conditions for visitors.
The Downtown Mesa BBQ Classic is a sanctioned KCBS competition. You must have a current KCBS membership to participate. We’ll offer 3 contests: One-Meat, Masters Series, and People’s Choice.
Friday, November 3 will be a one-meat pork ribs competition.
Saturday, November 4 will be our Masters’ Series competition (chicken, pork ribs, pork butt, brisket) and our “People’s Choice” local awards program, offered to the public via “BBQ Bucks” that allow them to sample and vote for their favorite cook’s brisket sampling.
All contest awards will be presented following the conclusion of judging and voting on Saturday afternoon.
Entry Fees
Per Entry Fee – $200.00 (Master Series – Saturday)
Per Entry Fee – $50.00 (One-Meat Competition – Friday)
Per Entry Fee – FREE (People’s Choice Competition* – Saturday)
* No cost to enter People’s Choice, but participants agree to accommodate service for the number of sampling/tasting tickets sold. Participants will receive allocated compensation in the amount of 70% of ticket sales divided equally among the number of participants. Participants will be listed in ticket sales promotions and notified of final quantity of tickets sold by October 20, 2023.
