Judging – September 9-10, 2022

This competition is open to all commercial mead makers. If you are an amateur meadmaker, you must enter the home competition.

There is a limit of 100 paid entries for this competition.

Each entrant is limited to 5 entries.

Special category for 2022 is Foraged Ingredients!
Make a mead with ingredients you’ve gathered from the wild. Ingredients must be gathered by you or a co-meadmaker. Commercial purchases and home grown ingredients are not permitted (honey/yeast are the exceptions). NO Mushrooms. No Federally illegal or restricted substances. No harmful ingredients.

Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges’ scoring of your entry.

– Categories may be combined if there are not enough entries to judge in that category. If  we combine categories, judges will be informed of the original category and instructed to judge the entry accordingly.
– All entries will be judged “blind”.
– We will split categories as needed to ensure mead flights are manageable by judges.
– Judges will be served entries with a label and pertinent entry information by stewards.
– There will be no bottles at the judging tables.
– BOS judging will be done by a panel with a minimum of 3 very experienced judges.
– Every entry will have at least one Mead Certified judge assigned.
