The San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge is one of the oldest, most respected competitions of its kind in the United States.
As we celebrate this landmark 40th year, a little history: In 1982 the San Diego Wine Competition was founded as a “national” competition. It quickly grew to become one of the finest competitions around, and a “don’t miss” for wineries across the country. Nationally syndicated wine writer Robert Whitley took the reins in 2004 and immediately expanded the scope to include wines from around the globe, adding “international” to the name. In 2016 a spirits component was added, and the competition was rechristened again.
