General Information
ELIGIBILITY:
The competition is open exclusively to homebrewers. No beers brewed on commercial brewery equipment can be accepted.
CATEGORIES AND SUB-CATEGORIES: This competition focuses on “big” beers — those with higher alcohol levels and malt profiles, specifically these 2015 BJCP Styles:
9A. Doppelbock
9B. Eisbock
9C. Baltic Porter
16C. Tropical Stout
16D. Foreign Extra Stout
17A. English Strong Ale
17B. Old Ale
17C. Wee Heavy
17D. English Barleywine
20C. Imperial Stout
22B. American Strong Ale
22C. American Barleywine
22D. Wheatwine
24C. Biere de Garde
26B. Belgian Dubbel
26D. Belgian Dark Strong Ale
33A. Wood-Aged Beer
33B. Specialty Wood-Aged Beer
36A. The Beast (any style 12% ABV and above; must include ABV, base beer, and special ingredients or processes)
Only ONE entry per subcategory is allowed. For example: You can enter a Belgian Dubbel in subcategory 26B and a Belgian Dark Strong Ale in 26D, but only one in each.Â
Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their beers are entered in the correct categories. If a beer is entered in the wrong category, no attempt will be made to move it to another category, and judges will be instructed to evaluate the entry’s characteristics based on the category in which it was entered.

AWARDS:
Awards will go to the top three finishers in each judging group, as well as the top three beers in the Best of Show round.
Jackie-O’s Brewer’s Choice Award goes to a Best of Show beer chosen to be brewed commercially at Jackie-O’s Brewpub in Athens.
Zombie Horde Award goes to the club with the highest medal count (tiebreaker #1: most first-place awards; tiebreaker 2: highest average score)
Malt Monarch Award goes to the individual with the highest medal count (tiebreaker #1: most first-place awards; tiebreaker 2: highest average score)
#BIL (Barleywine Is Life) Award goes to the top-scoring English or American barleywine.
Forked Tongue Award goes to the entry with the most creative name, as determined by a panel of judges.
The Beast Award goes to highest-scoring entry in “The Beast” category (35A), beers 12% or more alcohol by volume, regardless of style).
