2020 Garden State Homebrew Competition

General Information

Each entry will consist of capped or corked bottles and cans that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely. 12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass or plastic bottles will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted as well as corked bottles. Bottles will not be returned to contest entrants. This year we will also accept entries in 12 or 16 oz aluminum cans. The cans should not contain any other markings or distinguishing characteristics. All requisite paperwork must be submitted with each entry and can be printed directly from this website. Entry paperwork should be attached to bottles / cans by the method specified on the bottle label. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges’ scoring of your entry.

Prizes / Awards / Medals / Ribbons

AWARDS:
The awards ceremony will take place once judging is completed. Places will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category/table. The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a single, overall Best of Show selected for beer and and one for cider/mead.

Additional prizes may be awarded to those winners present at the awards ceremony at the discretion of the competition organizers. Award ribbons and additional prizes will be available for pick up during the award ceremony or shortly after it concludes. Participants that do not attend the awards ceremony will not be eligible for additional prizes.

Awards ribbons will be mailed to participants that are not at the ceremony. All Results and score sheets will be posted to the competition web site as soon as possible after the ceremony concludes. Additionally individual score sheets will will be emailed to each participant as soon as possible after the competition.

BEST OF SHOW:
Winner of Best of Show for Cider / Mead will have the opportunity to collaborate with Melovino on a session mead that will be served in their tap room. Winner of Best of Show for Beer will also have the chance to brew a beer in collaboration with a NJ Brewery that will be served in their tap room.
