Celebrating Northern California’s best of the best! What’s at stake? Prestige and bragging rights to see who’s the best in Northern California’s premier wine growing region.
Only wines from select California North Coast AVAs can participate, only Gold Medals and above are published in The Press Democrat, Spirited magazine and online and only Gold Medal winners will get judging notes.
There is a special judging category for luxury brands over $75/bottle and an invitational tasting will be organized and hosted by The Press Democrat after the judging.
NEW THIS YEAR – FUTURES (BARREL SAMPLING)
Futures judging is open to all varieties and blends of red wine in barrel.
Current vintages acceptable to enter are 2016, 2017 and 2018. 3 x 750ml bottles are required. Samples are preferred in screw cap but can be corked. Wine submitted needs to reflect the final label the wine will be bottled under.

MEDALS & Notification
Award recipients will be notified within 5 working days of the last day of the competition.
Medals are approximately 2 inches in diameter and weigh about 1.5 ounces. They are attractively engraved with the wine competition logo and award designation and are not year-specific.
Medals typically take six weeks to produce and are mailed as soon as available. Only Gold Medals and above are published in The Press Democrat, Spirited Magazine, on this website and at EnofileOnline.com within ten (10) working days of the final judging day. Silver medals will be given but not published.
