General Information

We are proud to be the final qualifying event for the Annual Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB), and the final stop on the Midwest Homebrewer of the Year circuit. The Happy Holiday Homebrew Competition is the St. Louis Brews annual homebrew competition. It is a fully sanctioned AHA and BJCP event. The main judging will be on Friday, December 13 (6:30 pm) and Saturday, December 14, 2019 (9:00 am and 1:00 pm). This year, the National Honey Board is sponsoring a special category for Honey beers! Winner of that category will recieve a special prize of 15 lb of honey from the Honey Board. Honey beer entries will not be judged to BJCP styles, but rather on how well honey is featured as an ingredient. This is a fantastic opportunity. Start thinking about honey beer recipes and get those special beers brewed!

Prizes / Awards / Medals / Ribbons
In addition to medals, there are special prizes for both beer and meads. For beer BOS, first place will get a ten gallon brew kettle from Spike Brewing. Prizes will also be awarded for second and third place in BOS. For mead BOS, first place will get 60 lb of honey (no, that is not a typo), second gets 15 lb, and third gets 5 lb. This year, two area breweries are sponsoring prefessional ramp-ups. Alpha Brewing Company is sponsoring a ramp-up in the category of sours and wild ales, and Stubborn German Brewery is sponsoring a ramp-up for the best German style beer. Winners of these ramp-ups will get to brew their beer at the breweries with professional brewers. How cool is that?!?!
